Fiona is a self-taught artist and crafter who by nature is drawn to “fiddly” hobbies like cross stitch, paper quilling, and writing pysanky.
Fiona is a relative newcomer to the centuries-old folk art of pysanky, having just picked up a *kistka* (stylus) for the first time in January 2022, but she discovered an immediate affinity for creating these intricate, colorful works of art. Each new design is a challenge, and she finds peace and meditation in the “writing” of a pattern over the course of hours or days.
Fiona’s pysanky range from faithful reproductions of traditional patterns that have been passed down and shared among pysanky artists for generations, to completely original designs. She has an equal love for the technical challenge of executing a very intricate pattern and for the modern aesthetics of simple, bold designs.
