The beauty of plein air painting often lies in the imperfections. Painting outdoors with the challenges of changing weather, shifting light, curious onlookers, and a limited amount of time can result in a piece that is less polished, but more authentic than artwork created in a studio. I generally resist the temptation to “touch up” a painting once I get it home, just to preserve that freshness and sense of spontaneity.
