Painting from Mexico to Minnesota
My name is Janet Brose and my interest in painting began in the 1970’s. I attended weekly, for three years, with Kay Faust’s oil painting classes through Community Education. My painting took a rest when I was employed in the print industry and graphic design field. When I retired years later, I picked up my paint brush again and pursued acrylic median. Wintering for two months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, I began classes with Louise Shipley, learning acrylic painting. Returning to Chaska, I attend Sara Hanlon’s classes through Community Education. I continue to attend classes from Sara and a new instructor in PV.
While in Mexico, my images take on more abstract qualities, liberally laced with bright colors. In Minnesota, my works take on more subdued colors. Both locations depict colloquial imagery is what my instructors have shared in their critics of my work.
I live in Chaska with my husband, Pete and I have two adult sons, Mark, wife Jeanne, Chad, wife Andrea and their son and our grandson Burke.
Thank you for letting me share my work with you.
Some words on what inspires my work:
I hope you enjoy my painting as much as I enjoyed creating them. Each of my paintings are inspired by things I have seen or memories that bring me peace and love.
The barn and farm scenes are inspired by my growing-up years on the farm, capturing the Nostalgia and peacefulness of country living.
My flower paintings remind me of my mother’s great love for gardening. Each painting brings me comfort and keeps her a little closer to my everyday life.
The bright colorful paintings remind me of my time in Mexico, enjoying retirement and the great friends I have made there. My hope is that you can make your own peace and love from my paintings.
Sincerely,
Janet Brose
