Waterfowl painter, sporting dog artist, photographer and videographer, Carl J. Melichar makes his home in rural Mayer, Minnesota, along with his wife, Maria and four children. His home is located on an old historic farm, homesteaded in the middle 1800’s. Carl’s studio, Countryside Art Gallery is 40 minutes west of Minneapolis, MN. The farm borders a waterfowl habitat lake with trumpeter swans and an abundance of other waterfowl and all kinds of wildlife.
Carl is a director of the 1914 museum studio and “Old Granary” art gallery. The Granary has over 100 taxidermy ducks, most of them sea ducks and all four of the North American Eiders.
Since the 1970s he has done home shows, sports shows, MN State Fair, Minnesota Renaissance Festival and National Pheasant Fest, Ducks Unlimited and many others.
Carl does original dog paintings on commission.
