Life’s visual poetry speaks to me through my photography, from the graceful arrangement of lily pads in a pond to the fleeting patterns of birds in flight. I see shapes, lines, and colors as rhythmic compositions. Appreciating their imperfections and impermanence—a perspective I acquired during my time in Japan—infuses my work with contemplation. Textures like the patina of rust or cracked paint reveal time’s passage, contrasting age with beauty, while close-up views uncover hidden patterns and abstractions. Beauty, I find, hides in the mundane.

Inspired by these symphonies, my recent work explores composite imagery, weaving layers through in-camera double exposures, digital manipulation, or both. These techniques deepen the emotional resonance of my images, inviting viewers to pause and find beauty in the fleeting and overlooked.

My photography journey began when I purchased a 35mm SLR film camera after graduating high school. I attained a Commercial Photography degree, which helped to sharpen my visualization and expression skills. My husband and I lived and traveled the world before returning to Minnesota to raise two wonderful daughters. Living in Japan was a particularly formative experience. I’ve been involved in the local art and photography scene via the Minnetonka Camera Club, the Arts Consortium of Carver County, and numerous exhibits.
